Antonia King

Yamaha Music School, Admin

Antonia started playing the piano at 4. By 12, she was studying clarinet and piano at the Royal College of Music's Junior Department which she attended until she was 18. She went on to Oxford Brookes University to study music. After gaining a bachelors degree, she continued at Brookes, completing a masters degree with special focus on music education.

Antonia joined Matrix Arts Centre in 1997, initially teaching Yamaha's Piano Course For Children, later joining Lindsay to help with the running of the school and development of JMC at Matrix Arts Centre. She has been teaching the Junior Music Courses since 2000 and is delighted to have taken several groups right through from 'do do do' to 'graduation' and beyond. She is extremely pleased to have been given the opportunity to use this teaching and administrative experience to set up a Yamaha Music School at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon, fondly remembered from concerts in her youth.

Antonia finds teaching in this style immensely rewarding, and especially loves helping children find and develop their own style of composition. A great advocate of the Yamaha system, her two children attend lessons at Matrix. She is proud to hold the highest level Yamaha teacher qualifications: Grade 3 in both Piano and Fundamentals.
