Patrick Salisbury award 2024
We are delighted to announce that Nathaniel Brown is this year’s recipient of the ‘Patrick Salisbury Music Prize’, having been nominated by his group music teacher, Antonia! Here’s her nomination:
“Nathaniel is just about to graduate from the entire Yamaha course pathway. He has shown consistent diligence and enthusiasm throughout his final course with me - it has been a pleasure to have him in the class. I wish him the best of luck for his piano grade in October!”
Patrick Salisbury is the founder of All Saints’ Singers – Sutton Courtenay’s community choir - and he stepped down from his role as president during the pandemic. The choir rehearse at Matrix Arts Centre on Friday evenings. They decided to show their appreciation of Patrick’s many years of service by setting up an annual award for ten years, to be given to a music student from the village. The ASS asked Matrix Arts Centre to find the recipient of the award and this is the third year we have done so. Matrix Arts Centre has also made a small contribution to the fund. The award is more about the accolade rather than the prize (a token to allow the winner to choose some music). Patrick and the choir were keen for it to be about commitment and enthusiasm rather than for musical prowess.
